Maryland Lyric Opera

Vocal Competition Finals Gala Concert Special Performance by Aprile Millo & Brad Clark

About Aprile Millo:

Aprile Millo made a Cinderella-like debut at the Metropolitan Opera on December 3, 1984, replacing an ailing colleague. The next day’s papers heralded the birth of a “New Verdi Star!” and 28 years later, Millo is still winning praise from critics and ovations from an adoring public.

Ms. Millo has sung over 180 performances of 15 different roles at her artistic home of the Metropolitan Opera. Outside New York, she has triumphed in the theaters of Frankfurt,

Barcelona, Parma, Rome, Bologna, Torino, Vernona, Caracalla, Munich, Berlin, Vienna, Zurich, Paris, Orange, Moscow, Rio de Janero, Sao Paolo, Santiago, Buenos Aires and of course, La Scala, Milan. She has collaborated with great conductors including Herbert von Karajan, Riccardo Muti, James Levine and Guiseppe Sinopoli.

Recordings include a critically acclaimed Verdi series for Sony Classical (Aida, Il Trovatore, Luisa Miller and Don Carlo), DVD of Un Ballo in Maschera (The Met, Levine and Pavarotti), Emmy winning broadcast DVD of Aida (The Met, Levine and Domingo) and a Christmas disc entitled “Christmas Through the Ages!”

Ms. Millo has been awarded many prizes including First Prize at the Voci Verdiane Concorso, the Montserrat Caballe-Bernabe ‘Merti Special Verdi Prize, Francisco Viñas Prize, The

Voce D’Oro, The Richard Tucker Foundation Award, and the Maria Callas Foundation Award.
